From a historical, artistic and architectural standpoint, the territory of Badia Tedalda is marked by the presence of remains and evidence dating back to various historical periods.

Within its walls are carefully preserved the precious finds that document the origins of this area: mineral, fossil and archaeological discoveries, as well as objects and fragments of architectural decoration dating from the medieval, Romanesque and Lombard periods.

.

There is also a lapidary collection of materials originating predominantly from the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, including an arched festoon that originally adorned the portal, fragments of capitals and architectural decorations from the 11th to the 16th century, as well as a distinctive monolithic lunette featuring an archaic-style bust of the Madonna.

The exhibition route also includes the madia dei ricordi (cabinet of memories) — a collection of historical photographs portraying the people, events and moments that capture life in Badia Tedalda during the last century. Also held within the Museum is the precious historical archive of Don Amedeo Potito, donated by him to the Municipality of Badia Tedalda. Don Potito was a meticulous researcher and scholar of Church history, and the author of numerous works that have enriched the historical record of the settlements of the Upper Valmarecchia, and of Badia Tedalda in particular.

A living tradition

History has handed down to us an unmistakable product — a treasure chest of local history, culture and tradition, of which we in Pieve Santo Stefano are truly proud.
